Biography

Sonia Goldenberg is a Peruvian journalist, anthropologist, documentary filmmaker, and writer. She studied Anthropology at the Pontifical Catholic University of Peru and earned a master's degree in journalism from Columbia University in New York. Over the course of her career, she has worked as a reporter for *Caretas* magazine and the television news program *Visión*, hosted by César Hildebrandt. She later served as Univision's correspondent in Washington, D.C., and New York, and has held leadership roles at the Committee to Protect Journalists and within the United Nations system. She has also written for *The New York Times* and served on the Ethics Tribunal of the Peruvian Press Council. As a documentary filmmaker, Goldenberg has directed acclaimed works including *Memorias del paraíso* (*Memories of Paradise*, 2003), *El país de los saxos* (*The Country of Saxophones*, 2007), and *Siguiendo a Kina* (*Following Kina*, 2015), a documentary about world boxing champion Kina Malpartida. Throughout her career, Sonia Goldenberg has combined journalism, anthropology, and documentary filmmaking to explore the social, political, and cultural realities of Peru and Latin America.
