Biography

Juan García Ponce (22 September 1932 – 27 December 2003) was a Mexican screenwriter and film critic associated with Mexico’s 1960s experimental cinema. He wrote or co-wrote screenplays and adaptations for films including Tajimara (1965), the anthology feature Amor, amor, amor (1965) (segment “La Sunamita”), and the independent feature Mariana (released 1968), and his work also circulated through related compilation releases such as Los bienamados (1965).
