Biography

Social and ecological issues lie at the heart of François de Saint Georges’ artistic commitment. Through various mediums—films, radio and theatrical creations—he works at the intersection of journalism and art, personal inquiry and understanding of major global systemic challenges. His works aim to be both demanding and accessible, deeply connected to all forms of life. His play Les Langues Étrangères was programmed at the Théâtre de Liège and the Grand Théâtre of Luxembourg. Several of his plays have been staged, notably at La Balsamine. He has performed as an actor on various stages in Belgium and France. He regularly collaborates with visual artist Moni Wespi on sound creations or as a director of photography. In 2019, he produced a radio series on pesticides titled Comme On Nous Traite (“The Way We’re Treated”), and now returns to the same subject with the film ZUT – Zones Urgentes à Transformer (“Urgent Zones to Transform”). Continuing his work on pesticides, he is currently developing Histoires Chimiques / Corps chimiques (“Chemical Stories / Chemical Bodies”), an artistic research project awarded by FRArt, in collaboration with the Royal Conservatory of Liège. He is also preparing a lecture-performance titled DJ Glypho, and is an associate artist at Plusieurs, a space imagined for creation, research, and indiscipline.
