Tologon Kasymbekov (January 15, 1931 – June 16, 2011) was a prominent Kyrgyz writer, novelist, and screenwriter, widely recognized as a Hero of the Kyrgyz Republic (Kyrgyz Respublikasynyn Baatyry). He is celebrated as a master of historical fiction in Central Asian literature. Born in the village of Ak-Kyya in the Jalal-Abad Region, Kasymbekov graduated from the Faculty of Philology at the Kyrgyz State University. He gained monumental acclaim for his epic historical novels, most notably "Broken Sword" (Syngan Kylych, 1966), which masterfully depicted the complex history of the Kokand Khanate and the Kyrgyz people in the 18th and 19th centuries.
