Team Zenko Go

Inside the Making of Team Zenko Go: Cast Secrets and DreamWorks’ Latest Kids’ Hit

Netflix’s Team Zenko Go (2022) is the latest animated series from DreamWorks to capture the attention of young audiences—but what’s the story behind the show? Interviews with the cast and creators reveal a mix of behind-the-scenes enthusiasm, playful camaraderie, and a mission to blend action with heart. While the evidence is light on hard production details, the team’s own words offer a glimpse into the show’s creation.

A Cast United by Fun (and a Little Chaos)

The core cast—Nakai Takawira, Hartley Bernier, and Jack C. Thomas—dominate the interview circuit, and their dynamic shines through in every appearance. In multiple chats , the trio describes the recording process as a high-energy, collaborative affair. Bernier, who voices one of the lead characters, jokes about the "controlled chaos" of voicing a kids’ show, where improvisation and laughter are part of the job . Takawira, meanwhile, highlights the joy of working with a team that "gets" the balance between humor and sincerity, a hallmark of Team Zenko Go’s storytelling .

Thomas, an executive producer on the series, often steps into the spotlight alongside the cast, emphasizing the show’s dual focus: "It’s about kids who want to do good, but it’s also about the messiness of growing up" . The cast’s chemistry isn’t just for the cameras—Takawira and Bernier’s playful banter in interviews suggests a real-life friendship that likely fuels their on-screen chemistry .

DreamWorks’ Secret Weapon: A Show About Kindness (With Explosions)

Team Zenko Go stands out in DreamWorks’ lineup for its blend of action and altruism. The series follows a group of kids who secretly perform good deeds around their town, often with creative (and occasionally explosive) results. The cast and creators repeatedly stress that the show’s core message—helping others without expecting praise—resonates deeply with them .

In one interview, Thomas teases that the show’s "secret mission" vibe was a deliberate choice to make kids feel like they’re part of something bigger . Takawira adds that the characters’ flaws and growth are just as important as their heroic deeds, making them relatable to young viewers . The result? A series that’s as much about teamwork and empathy as it is about adventure.

What’s Next? Rumors and Hints

The evidence is thin on concrete details about a second season, but the cast’s enthusiasm suggests they’re eager for more. Bernier has dropped hints about "unfinished business" for his character, while Takawira playfully dodges questions about future episodes with a laugh . For now, fans will have to settle for the first season, which dropped in full on Netflix in 2022 .

If the interviews are any indication, Team Zenko Go’s success lies in its ability to balance humor, heart, and high-stakes fun—all while keeping the cast’s off-screen chemistry alive. Whether the show returns or not, its message of quiet heroism seems to have struck a chord.
