Ilona Christina Schulz
Ilona Schulz (born February 26, 1955, in Kassel) is a German actress, voice-over artist, and singer. Ilona Schulz studied at the Hanover University of Music, Drama and Media from 1976 to 1980, subsequently beginning her stage career at the Theater Hannover. She rose to fame through her role in the musical *Linie 1* by the Berlin-based Grips-Theater, as well as in the feature film adaptation of the same name. The song "Du bist schön, auch wenn du weinst"—which she performed in a Berlin dialect—was later covered by various artists, including the Beatsteaks and Sido. Throughout her career, Schulz has held theater engagements in cities such as Basel, Bremen, Munich, and Stuttgart. In Berlin, she worked as a freelance performer at venues including the Freie Volksbühne, the Theater am Kurfürstendamm, the Tipi am Kanzleramt, and the Theater des Westens. Furthermore, she has appeared in numerous film and television productions, including popular series such as *Tatort* and *Polizeiruf 110*. As a voice-over and audio drama artist, Schulz became particularly well-known for her work in children's productions. She voices the title characters in audio drama series such as *Der kleine König* and *Der Grüffelo*, and lent her voice to the character *Das kleine Arschloch* in the film adaptations of the same name. She is also recognized for her distinctive voice and her ability to mimic various dialects. In 2023, Schulz portrayed the elderly Margot Friedländer in the docudrama *Ich bin! Margot Friedländer*; the film was awarded the German Television Prize. In addition to her work as an actress and voice artist, she is also active as a playwright and resides in Berlin.
