Fajar Bustomi's Pasutri Gaje (2024) is an Indonesian newlywed comedy that keeps bumping into adult bills. Adimas (Reza Rahadian) and Adelia (Bunga Citra Lestari) want a home. Construction will not finish on their schedule.
They land at Adelia's parents instead, with leaky roofs, home-loan paperwork, and relatives who already have opinions about grandchildren. Love does not fix any of that. The film knows it.
The setup is simple enough to go stale. It holds when the camera stays on the small stuff. Adimas's face dropping when the "cozy" house is basically a storage unit. Adelia's smile cracking under her mother's comments. Those are the jokes that feel lived in.
Rahadian and Lestari have played lovers before, in My Stupid Boss and Habibie & Ainun, and the shorthand shows. They look like a couple who have already lost a thousand tiny fights. Rahadian does hapless husband without turning into a cartoon.
