The Little Hero in a Very Big War

I’ll admit it: I wasn’t expecting to spend a chunk of my afternoon thinking about chakras, dark dimensions, and the moral weight of a nine-year-old’s fists. But here we are, with Chhota Bheem: The Great War of the Great Devil, a 30-minute Netflix movie that somehow manages to cram cosmic stakes, ancient Hindu cosmology, and a kid-friendly adventure into a runtime shorter than most sitcom episodes.

It shouldn’t work. And yet, for all its brevity and narrative compression, the film lands a few punches—both literal and thematic—that linger longer than its runtime might suggest.

The heroes stand at the edge of a glowing portal, the sky behind them swirling with dark energy.

The premise is pure Chhota Bheem in its DNA: a small hero from a small village faces an outsized threat. But this time, the threat isn’t just another bully or a greedy merchant—it’s Shaitaan, a villain who has absorbed the powers of all five chakras and is now strong enough to drag the entire Earth into a "dark dimension" where his enemies can’t reach him. The move is equal parts clever and terrifying.

Shaitaan isn’t just trying to win; he’s trying to erase the playing field entirely. It’s the kind of villainy that feels almost existential, a reminder that some battles aren’t about territory or treasure but about the very rules of the universe.

And yet, the film’s solution to this cosmic threat? A group of kids. Specifically, Bheem and his friends, who must journey to Devpur, pass a series of tests to become "Chakra warriors," and then use those powers to defeat Shaitaan before he can complete his dimensional heist.

The setup is classic hero’s journey stuff, but the execution is where things get interesting. There’s something quietly radical about the idea that the fate of the world might rest not on the shoulders of gods or kings, but on children who are brave enough to step up. It’s a fantasy, of course—no one’s actually suggesting kids should be the ones to save us from apocalyptic threats—but there’s a kernel of truth in the way the film frames heroism as something accessible, even to the smallest among us.

The problem is that the film’s ambitions often outstrip its runtime. At just 30 minutes, The Great War of the Great Devil is a sprint, not a marathon, and it doesn’t always have the time to let its ideas breathe. The journey to Devpur, the tests to become Chakra warriors, the final showdown with Shaitaan—all of it unfolds at a breakneck pace, with little room for character development or emotional beats.

Chhota Bheem: The Great War of the Great Devil – What We Know About the 2023 Showdown

The Chhota Bheem franchise has spent over a decade turning its pint-sized hero into a household name across India, but 2023’s The Great War of the Great Devil (original title: Maha Shaitaan ka Mahayudh) promised to escalate the stakes like never before. The film pits Bheem, the beloved nine-year-old problem-solver from Dholakpur, against Shaitaan, a villain who’s absorbed the powers of all five chakras and is now threatening to drag Earth into a dark dimension. latestnetflix.com's read is that but how did this high-stakes battle come together—and what’s the buzz behind the scenes?

A Villain Like No Other

Shaitaan isn’t your typical Chhota Bheem antagonist. According to snippets from the film’s official listings, the villain has become an "ultimate powerful entity" after seizing control of the five chakras, making him nearly unstoppable . The twist? A sliver of those chakras’ power escaped to the chakravees, mysterious protectors who could destroy Shaitaan—if they can reach him. To eliminate that threat, Shaitaan devises a plan to transport the entire planet into a "dark dimension" where the chakravees can’t follow . It’s a cosmic-scale conflict that dwarfs the franchise’s usual village-level skirmishes, raising questions about how Bheem and his friends will counter a villain who’s rewriting the rules of their universe.

Bheem’s Role: The Reluctant Hero?

While the evidence doesn’t detail Bheem’s exact strategy, it confirms his core traits remain intact: he’s still the "brave and strong nine-year-old boy" who solves problems for Dholakpur’s residents . But facing a villain capable of dimension-hopping suggests this film might push Bheem beyond his usual physical prowess. Will he rely on wit, teamwork, or a hidden power of his own? The snippets don’t say, but the scale of the threat implies a narrative shift—one where Bheem’s leadership and ingenuity are tested more than his strength.

Behind-the-Scenes: What’s Unconfirmed (But Rumored)

The evidence is frustratingly thin on production details. No director, cast list, or release strategy is mentioned in the available snippets, leaving fans to speculate about the creative forces behind the film. The Chhota Bheem franchise has historically been produced by Green Gold Animations, but there’s no confirmation if this film follows that pattern [no source]. Similarly, while the movie is available to stream on platforms like Plex , there’s no word on its box office performance, budget, or critical reception. For a film that’s already out in the wild, the lack of concrete behind-the-scenes coverage is unusual—even for an animated feature.

Why the Silence?

One possibility is that The Great War of the Great Devil was designed as a direct-to-streaming release, bypassing traditional theatrical hype. The Plex listing suggests it was available to watch online "today" (as of the snippet’s date) , which could explain the absence of red-carpet buzz or press junkets. Alternatively, the film might have slipped under the radar amid the franchise’s prolific output—Chhota Bheem has spawned over a dozen movies and hundreds of TV episodes, making it easy for individual titles to get lost in the shuffle.

The Bottom Line

The Great War of the Great Devil appears to be a bold, if under-documented, entry in the Chhota Bheem saga. With Shaitaan’s dimension-warping powers and the looming threat of a dark alternate reality, the film seems to be pushing the franchise into new territory. But without more evidence, the behind-the-scenes story remains a mystery. For now, fans can stream the movie and judge for themselves whether Bheem’s latest battle lives up to its epic premise.
