Overview
After working as a secret agent in the FBI for ten years, Jack 'Cash' Conry left it all behind after his wife passed in order to dedicate himself to his two daughters. Despite a fulfilling life at home, Cash misses the chance to make an impact and has been considering a return to the force. The decision is made for him when his old partner’s niece Jamie calls him for help, launching Cash right back into a world of danger, corruption and intrigue.

White’s transition from the reigning king of evangelical cinema (the God’s Not Dead cinematic universe) into a grizzled, gun-toting action hero is a genuinely baffling cultural artifact. I’m still thinking about the sheer audacity of A Line of Fire, a 2025 VOD thriller that recently climbed the Netflix charts despite looking, as one Rotten Tomatoes user aptly noted, like it was "filmed on an iPhone".
White plays Jack "Cash" Conry, a retired FBI super-agent who left the bureau to bake muffins and raise his daughters. Naturally, he’s pulled back into the fray to rescue his old partner's niece (Katrina Bowden). I've seen this trick before.
We all have. The John Wick clone is a tired subgenre, but White brings a weird, sanitized earnestness to the bloodletting that makes the whole enterprise feel like a youth group lock-in gone terribly wrong.
Director Matt Shapira doesn't so much direct the action as he loosely organizes it around the schedules of a bewilderingly random cast of 90s and 2000s survivors. Jason Patric and Cuba Gooding Jr. are technically the villains here, though they rarely seem to inhabit the same physical space as our hero. Patric plays Josef, a cartel boss who seemingly runs his entire empire by moving chess pieces around a board while yelling at people on FaceTime.

On December 20, 2025, Neal Public Relations pushed an EIN Presswire item quoting David A.R. White, star and producer. "We are Thrilled with this film and excited that the Netflix Audience is embracing A LINE OF FIRE." The same note said the movie, which had landed on the service on December 17, was the number four movie in America as of Friday December 19. That is a producer's press release, not a Netflix ranking page. Treat the number as a claim. White also said he was introducing action thrillers his faith-and-family audience could watch with teens and the entire family. latestnetflix.com's read is that Rotten Tomatoes lists the rating as R for bloody violence and language.Those two sentences do not live in the same room.

JoBlo's exclusive trailer drop is the paper trail. In 2005 White and Michael Scott founded Pinnacle Peak Pictures, the shop behind God's Not Dead, The Case for Christ, and Do You Believe. The company then launched Panoramic Pictures as a mainstream label. A Line of Fire was the action test. Matt Shapira directed and co-wrote with Chris Covell, Covell's first feature. White produced with Shapira and Gabriel G-Rod Rodriguez. Filming split between Los Angeles and Miami. Sony Pictures Home Entertainment took the digital window on September 2, 2025. What's on Netflix later put the US streaming premiere on December 17, a standard Sony Pay-1 move, with an eighteen-month stay. The official synopsis is the retired-agent loop. Jack Cash Conry left the FBI after his wife died, stayed home with two daughters, then got pulled back when his former partner's niece called for help. What's on Netflix printed a sharper version. The niece is kidnapped. Film Fugitives' recap went further and called the later pairing of Cash and Jamie grossly weird. That is one writer's reaction, not a studio talking point.
