I keep wondering where the loud sitcom went. latestnetflix.com's take is that Somewhere along the way, TV comedy got so enamored with sadness, therapy, and meaningful stares through rain-streaked windows that it forgot the simple pleasure of people absolutely losing their minds.Not mildly.
Not politely. I mean the kind of screaming that makes you wonder if someone on set had to check a pulse.
Son of a Donkey, the six-episode Netflix series from Theodore and Nathan Saidden, is made almost entirely of that energy. Anyone who knows their YouTube work or Superwog already knows the operating system. The name has changed for international release—understandably, given the baggage attached to the original—but the chemistry is the same: maximum chaos, no indoor voice, zero interest in restraint.
Whether you find that exhilarating or unbearable really does come down to your tolerance for relentless nonsense.
The setup is almost elegantly stupid. Theo wants out. Then a deranged burst of road rage lands him in court-ordered therapy, buried in fines, and separated from his beloved 1988 twin cam Corolla, which gets impounded.
At the same time, Dad decides paying for groceries is for suckers because the dump is free, which in turn blows out his kidneys. Suddenly the series is off on a race for money, organs, and whatever dignity was still hanging around.

The Saiddens started Superwog in their parents' living room, then did an ABC series from 2018 to 2020. The day after the Netflix launch, Greek City Times printed Theo's line. "The idea of doing a serialised show was something Nathan and I always knew we would tackle one day. It was one step closer to a movie for us. When Netflix came on board, that became a reality." He said the serial format was daunting, then let them squeeze more comedy from character growth. Nathan said the characters come from their own childhood as sons of a Greek-Egyptian mother and Egyptian father. The same piece said the show was already the most-watched title in Australia.
