I’ve watched enough music documentaries to know the formula: a montage of rehearsals, a tearful confession, a triumphant final performance. BINI Docuseries does something riskier. It lingers in the in-between—the empty dance studios, the half-lit hotel rooms, the moments when the music stops and the girls are just eight young women staring at their phones, waiting for the next call.
The camera doesn’t flinch. Neither do they.
That stillness is the series’ quiet rebellion. Director Jet Leyco and writer Jeff Canoy have made a documentary that refuses to perform the usual pop spectacle. There are no pyrotechnics here, no manufactured drama.
