I didn’t expect to care about a behind-the-scenes podcast. Not really. I’ve sat through enough DVD extras and cast table reads to know the drill: polite laughter, rehearsed anecdotes, the occasional glimpse of a prop that makes you go, Oh, so that’s what that looked like. But ONE PIECE: Into the Grand Line: Official Podcast isn’t just another bonus feature—it’s a six-episode window into the messy, human engine behind an adaptation that, for all its CGI spectacle and fan-service precision, still feels like it’s being built in real time.
And that’s the strange magic of it.

The first thing that strikes you is how small it all feels. Not in a bad way—in the way of a family dinner where someone’s phone is recording, and no one’s quite sure when to stop talking. The cast is there, but so is Eiichiro Oda, the manga’s creator, and the dynamic between them is less like a press junket and more like a group of people who’ve just survived a hurricane together.
There’s a moment in Episode 3 where Iñaki Godoy (Luffy) and Mackenyu (Zoro) are recounting a scene from Season 2, and Oda interrupts with a laugh: “I didn’t write that part to make you cry. I wrote it to make me cry.” The room erupts. It’s the kind of unguarded admission you don’t get from a creator who’s spent decades mythologizing his own work.
For a franchise that’s all about grand quests and legendary treasures, the podcast keeps circling back to the mundane: the cold, the exhaustion, the way Emily Rudd (Nami) insisted on wearing that damn miniskirt in freezing weather because, as she puts it, “The fans deserve it.”
That last bit is telling. The podcast doesn’t just document the making of One Piece—it documents the weight of it. The live-action adaptation has always walked a tightrope between reverence and reinvention, and here, the cast and crew sound like they’re still figuring out how much of the original’s DNA they’re allowed to carry.
Audience Opinions
"A niche but appreciated behind-the-scenes extra that mainly appeals to devoted followers of the live-action adaptation."
Public, non-critic commentary on this companion series is extremely sparse, but the few visible reactions are positive about getting Eiichiro Oda on camera and hearing candid stories from the cast and crew. Interest clusters around the novelty of Oda’s appearance and the extra context on season 2 rather than the podcast’s structure or production itself, latestnetflix.com contends, and there is no meaningful volume of ratings to indicate a broader consensus.
- Oda-focused content Eiichiro Oda’s on-camera segments and personal thoughts on the live-action adaptation are singled out as a key draw.
- Deeper season 2 context The conversations with cast and crew about specific arcs and characters add extra flavor for those already invested in the second season.
- Very limited buzz Almost no open user reviews or detailed reactions can be found, indicating that it flew under the radar even among viewers of the show.
- Highly specialized appeal The focus on production talk and creator interviews offers little for anyone who is not already deeply into the live-action series.
Buzz & Rumors
Public reportsEiichiro Oda sat for episode one. Then the Straw Hats split the islands.
Netflix did not park the manga's author on a junket couch and call it finished. Three days after live-action season 2, titled ONE PIECE: Into the Grand Line, arrived on 10 March 2026, latestnetflix.com argues, the company dropped a six-episode official companion podcast that streams only on Netflix. Episode 1 is "Loguetown." It pairs Monkey D. Luffy actor Iñaki Godoy with Eiichiro Oda. Tudum posted the trailer on 11 March. All six episodes dated Friday, 13 March.
That is the hook. Oda almost never sits for a Western aftershow of this length, and here he is in the opening half hour. Netflix's title page clocks "Loguetown" at 28 minutes, "Reverse Mountain" at 30, then 17 and 16 for the two shortest hours (Mackenyu and Jacob Romero), 20 for Taz Skylar, and 28 again for Drum Island. The rating is TV-14. Audio is English plus Latin American Spanish and Brazilian Portuguese. TMDB files the show as a 2026 series. You cannot take this one to Spotify. It lives on the same app as the drama it is selling.
Who got which stop. Tudum mapped the remaining hours to the season's island order. Emily Rudd, who plays Nami, takes "Reverse Mountain." Mackenyu, who plays Zoro, gets "Whisky Peak." Jacob Romero (Usopp) and Taz Skylar (Sanji) split Little Garden into two episodes. Charithra Chandran, playing Miss Wednesday, and Mikaela Hoover close on "Drum Island." Hoover voices Tony Tony Chopper and did facial capture for the character, which is the production fact fans wanted said out loud.
What's on Netflix placed the drop inside Netflix's own video-podcast slate, next to in-house Bridgerton and Peaky Blinders shows and Skip Intro, plus licensed Barstool and The Ringer titles. A 2021 companion experiment called The Afterparty was canceled before it finished its order. This One Piece series is the live-action show getting the same treatment, not a third-party chart podcast. A five-episode behind-the-scenes pack dated 17 March added "Expanding the World," "Bringing Chopper to Life," "Baroque Works Explainer," "Behind the Stunts," and "Inaki Godoy Interviews Mr. Oda." Still Watching Netflix posted related video on YouTube. The podcast is the talk track. The BTS pack is the shop-floor reel.
Season 3 is already the next waiting room. ComicBook reported production underway and Oda confirming the Alabasta saga as the destination, with no public premiere date. The podcast does not close that wait. It keeps Grand Line talk on Netflix's own app, with Oda in episode one so nobody can claim the creator skipped the afterparty.
