Channing Tatum told Entertainment Tonight he had a stunt pee pee made for Rachel McAdams. It was cold that day. He did not trust her reaction if he walked in naked as written. He wanted her shocked, not laughing and pointing. Director Michael Sucsy had already been measuring what he called the "bitch factor" on Paige, McAdams's character, who wakes from a crash with no memory of her husband Leo. He wanted the most flexibility in editing so you still rooted for her when she was cold. He flew to New York to meet Tatum after doubting a guy who had played military parts. "This guy's got a huge heart. He is a white knight. It's who he really is." Tatum told The Hollywood Reporter he did not talk to the real couple before cameras rolled because Sucsy wanted him to experience it in the moment.

It did $41.2 million in the United States and Canada that weekend, then $11.6 million on Valentine's Day, which broke Hitch's mid-week record. Worldwide it finished at $196.1 million. Kim and Krickitt Carpenter married September 18, 1993. Ten weeks later a crash put Krickitt in a coma for 21 days. She woke with no memory of the wedding or the man. For the week of January 29 to February 4, 2024, Netflix logged 6.6 million hours and 3.8 million views. Hollywood kept the amnesia and the loft. The real husband kept the book tour, then did not keep the vow.
