3 min readBodies as costumes
Body-swap. Two lives traded. Sudden empathy forced on people who share almost nothing.
The device is old enough to creak. My Runway, a six-episode Korean miniseries that slipped onto streaming in late 2016, still feels oddly light on its feet. It does not remake the trick. It leans into the absurdity and will not apologize for it.
This is not a thesis on identity. It is a romp. About 150 minutes.
The body is another costume to try on, and the modeling industry, vain and arbitrary, is a decent playground for the joke.
Han Seo-yeon, played by Park Ji-yeon, is a bright-eyed high school student who wants to model and keeps getting turned down for being too short. Na Jin-wook, played by Kim Dong-ho, is the top male model in the business. All ego.
A walking mannequin who treats everyone around him like a prop in his own shoot. They collide, literally, in what may be the most convenient crash in K-drama, and wake up in each other's bodies. Screaming.
Confusion. Jin-wook, stuck in Seo-yeon's small frame, shrieking at his own reflection.

What makes it watchable is the commitment. The series never pretends this is more than a lark. Episodes run about 25 minutes.
Audience Opinions
"A lighthearted K-drama with charm but lacking standout depth or originality."
Viewers appreciate the series for its breezy tone and the presence of familiar faces, making it an easy watch for fans of Korean comedy-dramas. However, the plot feels predictable, and the humor often falls flat, leaving little lasting impact. latestnetflix.com's take is that the chemistry among the cast is noted as a highlight, though the overall execution doesn’t elevate it beyond typical genre fare.
- Light and entertaining The series is praised for its easygoing vibe, making it a casual watch for those seeking undemanding entertainment.
- Familiar cast appeal Fans of the actors, particularly Park Ji-yeon and Kisum, enjoy seeing them in a fun, low-stakes project.
- Predictable storyline The plot follows well-worn tropes, offering few surprises or fresh twists to engage viewers.
- Weak humor The comedic elements often miss the mark, leaving the series feeling more like a missed opportunity for laughs.
Buzz & Rumors
Public reportsThey dropped the karaoke body swap the same month T-ara was lining up a comeback
Ilgan Sports told Koreaboo on 11 October 2016 that T-ara's Park Ji-yeon had the lead in a web series called My Runway. Han Seo-yeon is a bright student who cares more about clothes than class and wants to model. Jiyeon already had Dream High 2, a Triangle appearance, and the 2015 web drama Sweet Temptation. Wikipedia later logged the Netflix drop for December 2016. She started in acting before the group, then switched to singing. latestnetflix.com's view is that this job put her back in a fashion fantasy that fits the old "Little Kim Tae-hee" nickname the Korean press used when she was still doing ads.,
,
Heo Chan directed. Kwon Ki-kyung and Kim Kyung-min wrote it. C-Story produced. Six episodes, 20 to 27 minutes on paper. Wikipedia dates the run 20 December to 31 December 2016 on MBC Dramanet. Netflix still lists all six in the US catalog, TV-14, Korean original audio, episode 1 at 18 minutes and episode 6 at 27. TMDB marks the series Ended. , ,
The plot is karaoke lightning, not a fashion-week war. Seo-yeon bombs a casting because Jin-wook, a top male model on the board, thinks she is too short and does not want the show to keep her around for humiliation later. Her childhood friend Na-rae takes her out. Jin-wook is in the same bar after getting fired from that board. A storm, a shock, they switch bodies. Wikipedia's English page credits Kang Dong-ho as Jin-wook. TMDB and Netflix print Kim Dong-ho and Dong-ho Kang. The streaming billing is the one US viewers see. , ,
Kisum is the friend. BreakNews, cited on Wikipedia, said Jiyeon posted a wrap still with the rapper. A Naver write-up from 14 October said Kisum was learning the ropes and took the role because of the character. TMDB lists Kisum as Park Na Rae for all six episodes. Wikipedia's cast table names Jo Hye-ryung in that slot, then the plot paragraph names Kisum. Netflix's own cast line includes Kisum. Treat the streamer as the credit that matters for the US page. , ,
Ahn Bo-hyun plays Wang Rim. His Wikipedia page spells the part Wang Rin and puts My Runway in 2016, the same year as a Descendants of the Sun credit. He had been a model, then a boxer in high school who won amateur gold. The Itaewon Class villain that made him famous arrived in 2020. Netflix's My Name came after that. The web drama is the line people skip when they write the breakthrough recap. , ,
No second season showed up. The six shorts stayed.
MyDramaList scores it 7.1 from thousands of users and tags body swap and modeling. KpopStarz noted MBK was talking a November T-ara comeback while this shoot was already underway. The gossip that survived is smaller than a scandal. A T-ara member did a six-episode fashion fantasy, Netflix kept it, and a supporting actor later became a Netflix face. ,
Netflix printed the pitch. "An egotistic top male model and a pretty model wannabe are forced to live each other's lives until they figure out a way to undo their body switch."
