Lost dogs, not a haunting

The kids I know do not need a ghost explained. They poke the dark and giggle. Phantom Pups works from that. It is live-action fantasy for children.

A boy moves into a haunted house and befriends three spectral puppies. No lore dump. Ghosts sit next to the wind, and next to the stomach-drop at the top of a swing.

They are simply there.

Jett Klyne plays the boy. He notices the pups. He does not exorcise them. The dogs are not evil. They are lost. Most kids' fantasy wants a chase. This series lets the unknown stay in the room.

A dimly lit hallway in the haunted house, where the ghostly pups flicker in and out of view like candlelight.

Twenty-five minutes an episode. Enough air for a story. Not enough for a fidget to win. I liked the floor scene most. The boy shares a snack with dogs that are only half there, flickering in and out like a dream you have not left. The show does not fill in the blanks. It assumes a child can.

Netflix’s "Phantom Pups" (2022): A Ghostly Kids’ Series with Surprising Star Power

Netflix’s Phantom Pups (2022) is a fantasy-driven kids’ series that blends supernatural antics with a young ensemble cast, but behind its playful premise lies a production that’s quietly packed with rising talent and a few unexpected twists. latestnetflix.com's read is that while details about its creation remain scarce, the show’s trailers and cast choices offer glimpses into what made it stand out in the crowded family-friendly streaming space.

A Cast of Young Stars and Familiar Faces

The series stars Jett Klyne (The Flash, The Man in the High Castle) and Thalia Campbell, two young actors who bring the show’s ghostly adventures to life. They’re joined by a mix of child performers and adult character actors, including Ryan Belleville (Workin’ Moms) and Enid-Raye Adams (The 100), suggesting a balance of youthful energy and veteran comedic timing .

One of the more intriguing casting notes is the appearance of Dan Ramos as Jinks Jones, a character highlighted in a dedicated Netflix clip . While Ramos isn’t listed in the main cast credits, his role in promotional material hints at a potentially larger part—or at least one Netflix wanted to spotlight. Whether this was a late addition or a recurring character remains unconfirmed, but it’s a rare behind-the-scenes tease for a series that otherwise keeps its production details under wraps.

Phantom Pups leans into the supernatural, with trailers showcasing kids interacting with mischievous ghostly dogs . The tone is lighthearted, aligning with Netflix Jr.’s brand of playful, kid-friendly content. Clips in multiple languages—including Hindi and Dutch—suggest the series was designed for global appeal, a common strategy for Netflix’s animated and live-action kids’ shows .

The show’s runtime (25 minutes per episode) and genre classification as fantasy/family place it squarely in the same lane as The Ghost and Molly McGee or Haunted Hathaways, though Phantom Pups appears to skew slightly younger . The lack of official episode counts or season details makes it hard to gauge its longevity, but the volume of promotional clips implies Netflix invested in its visibility.

What We Still Don’t Know

For all its charm, Phantom Pups is a series shrouded in mystery. There’s no public information about its creators, directors, or even how many episodes were produced. Rumors about behind-the-scenes drama or production challenges are nonexistent—likely because the show flew under the radar compared to Netflix’s bigger kids’ franchises like Stranger Things or The Dragon Prince.

One lingering question is whether Phantom Pups was a one-season experiment or a project with untapped potential. The absence of renewal announcements or cast interviews suggests the former, but the show’s international rollout and trailer-heavy marketing campaign indicate Netflix saw value in it at launch.

The Bottom Line

Phantom Pups (2022) is a curious case: a well-promoted, globally targeted kids’ series that arrived with little fanfare and left even less of a footprint. Its cast—particularly the young leads—deserves attention, but without more details, it’s hard to say whether the show was a hidden gem or a forgettable footnote in Netflix’s vast library. For now, it remains a ghostly blip on the streaming radar—one that’s easy to miss but intriguing to revisit.
