Selena Marie Gomez (born July 22, 1992, Texas, United States) is an American singer, actress and producer. Regarded as a "triple threat" and one of the leading figures in pop culture, her accolades include a Cannes Film Festival Best Actress award, a Screen Actors Guild award, an honorary Latin Grammy award, 3 Grammy nominations, 9 Emmy nominations, 7 Golden Globe nominations and a BAFTA nomination. Gomez began her acting career on the children's television series Barney & Friends (2002–2004). In her teenage years, she rose to stardom for her lead role as Alex Russo in the Emmy winning Disney Channel television series Wizards of Waverly Place (2007–2012). She then returned to television in 2021 on the Hulu/Disney+ comedy series Only Murders in the Building (2021–), alongside fellow stars and executive producers Steve Martin and Martin Short.
